Festival of Trees in Marietta, Georgia

Christmas Trees on the Historic Marietta Square

The Festival of Trees is an annual tradition in Marietta, Georgia. Area organizations decorate several Christmas trees that cover a corner of Glover Park on the Historic Marietta Square. The decor themes are eclectic and sometimes odd but always creative. I enjoyed this tree in the foreground with its Disney-influenced ornaments (although they didn’t mention the entertainment giant by name, of course).

While the park is always charming in winter — ice skaters, in particular, will love the seasonal rink — it’s especially photo-worthy laced with snow. The recent snowfall, so rare in Georgia before Christmas, turned the square into the stuff of postcards.

There’s free parking on the square for a set time limit that is strictly enforced but convenient if you’re just stopping by for a quick peek. Parking is completely free on Sundays. Don’t miss the cute shops and eateries, worth a visit in any weather.
